Bargainista Media is two broads, two online magazines, three dogs, a blog, two Ginger Ninjas, and one kick-ass weekly deals web site who joined forces for good in the fall of 2007. While slaving in production together at an off-price online retailer, founders Melissa Massello and Meghan Udell realized they shared a snarky sense of humor, DIY attitude, and the dream of launching a publishing empire. They were disappointed in the lack of magazines geared towards real people looking to lead a smart, happy, thrifty, and green lifestyle. Or perhaps they just knew they could do it better.And so, along with the support of their devoted redheads and doting dogs, Bargainista Media was born. Currently, Bargainista Media's properties include: Dedicated to helping people achieve smart, self-sufficient, and sustainable lives without starving, this online magazine mixes Depression-era wisdom with the philosophy that what's good for the wallet is also good for the planet. Shoe Leather is the place where Shoestring's editors and contributors can gather all of the tasty tidbits from the road and their research and readers can walk along in their well-worn shoes. Shoe Leather launched in February of 2008. A virtual one-stop-shop for all of the great products and services mentioned in our publications, Bargainista.com is a way for readers to browse an edited selection of deals, steals, and splurges while supporting the content they love. BM has partnered with several affiliates to receive (or give to charity) a portion of all sales generated from Bargainista. Bargainista.com launched in February 2008.
